Before you head out to your placement, there are things we need to do together so you feel ready to learn in your new work environment. There are days scheduled at the beginning and throughout the year during your Co-op and take place at the school with your Co-op teacher.
In class career exploration activities will allow you to explore career opportunities through safety training, career preparation, understanding worker's rights, and completion of online certifications. |
After you sign up:You will get an interview with your co-op teacher in which you will have the opportunity to state your goals and ideas that you have regarding your placement. Shortly after, establishment of your placement will occur.

Pre-placement and integration daysThese days are in-school and give you the opportunity to learn and reflect on your placement and career goals.
Preparing for the work environment, Health and Safety, Career techniques, rights and skills are some of the main themes that we focus on. We also reflect on placements and share skills that have been learned at placements. |
your placementYou report daily to your placement. You are responsible for your transportation and getting there on time. Your co-op teacher will visit you regularly to monitor your progress. You will be recording daily information on your placement, discussing what you are doing on a daily basis. This helps your teacher monitor what you are doing, and ensures that things are going smoothly in your placement.
